I've been lurking/reading here for a while. I see things there seems to be no explanation for, like, when I view some peoples posts, the sidebar, and I keep seeing things that shows me their favourite bloggers - where does that list come from? i.e. How do I get my own list of bloggers to watch?

JoeUser seems to need some "help" pages to describe things like this.. Or is it just that I can't find them?

First of all, has anybody seen or heard of a community website, that is about books? There are plenty that sell books, and have lots of information about them, but the listing of ones own books, and discussion, generally takes a back seat.

I was discussing this recently with some friends on PerlMonks, and since we haven't heard of such a sit...

I guess this is supposed to be an introductory post..

Why desert-island? Way back when I started out playing games and such on the internet (MUDs, anyone know them?) I had to pick a nickname, and settled on "castaway", from "Message in a bottle" by Sting, looking up the lyrics of which, I will leave as an exercise for the reader. Having to name my first computer some time later, it became "desert-island", and still is.. So now you know.

Here you will probably see quite sporadic posts, I h...
